Public Philosophy

I believe firmly in the value and emancipatory potential of philosophy. One of my major goals is to bring philosophy to groups who face barriers in accessing a philosophical education. With this goal in mind, in 2013, I co-founded Rethink, an award-winning philosophy outreach program based in New York City, which facilitates philosophical discussion workshops in partnership with local community organisations, court-involved youth, survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking, and teenagers from families affected by domestic violence. I have also volunteered my time in other community-based philosophy initiatives, and have produced philosophical work for popular audiences. This work includes the following publications in popular presses:

“Cummings is bringing us closer to a zero-trust society.” – politics.co.uk, June 2020

“Can liberal values be absolute? Or is that a contradiction?” – Aeon, October 2016
