I am an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Sheffield.
In 2021-22, I was a Fellow-in-Residence at the Safra Center for Ethics at Harvard University.
Before that, I studied for my BA and MPhil at the University of Cambridge, and did my PhD at Columbia University in New York.
My research is in Normative Ethics, Metaethics, Political Philosophy, Rationality, and Philosophy of Mind. I have published papers in Noûs, Mind, Philosophical Studies, The Australasian Journal of Philosophy, Philosophical Topics, and Analysis, and (forthcoming) The Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society.
I enjoy writing for a broader audience. My essays have appeared in The Atlantic, The New Statesman, Aeon and The Times Literary Supplement. In 2022 I won the American Philosophical Association’s Public Philosophy Op-Ed Prize.
I am the Editor of Analysis Reviews.
I am also an Associate Editor of The Journal of Moral Philosophy.
